Hello everybody, many of you will have heard about my hopes to invite you all to come and stay on the south coast at the beginning of September - well finally here are my plans. Please text me if you're interested & we can sort things out.
Basically my parents have a flat 5 mins from Lymington marina and 1 min from Lymington Town station (easily accessible every half hour from the fast Virgin Train through Brockenhurst), and the flat is now in a fit state to receive guests, so I'm inviting you all to come stay as long as you like down there. There's not room for everyone who might come to fit in the flat (I think max 6 there) but there's lots of great camping nearby and several of you have already volunteered to camp nearby.
You can come and go as you please, whenever you have time to be there really. I myself will only be there for the two weekends (31st Aug - 2nd Sep and 7-9th Sep) as I'm likely to be working in the week but as many of you are thinking of camping anyway I thought you'd be happy entertaining yourselves on the weekdays before my return...? I'll check up on buses etc once I know who's planning what. Additionally I'll find out the best campsite for access to Lymington and the Forest and post the details here for you to book your spot.
The innumerable nice things to do in the area include...
- Great walking, biking and nature in the New Forest
- Easy ferries to Southampton and the Isle of Wight (which you can easily get around by bus) from Lymington and Hythe
- Great nightlife & nice shopping/touristy stuff in Bournemouth
- Great beaches at Highcliffe and Mudeford, from where you can go crabfishing off Mudeford Quay or head over to Hengistbury Head for another nature reserve with great beaches or take the Noddy Train to more nice stuff
- Hurst Castle at the end of Keyhaven Spit
- Nice market, shops, marina, learn to sail & nature reserve in Lymington
- Etc!
I also have relatives in the area who can help if anything goes wrong when I can't help, but of course it won't because we're great aren't we.
So if you're interested, what I need to know is:
- Are you gonna go? Who else will come with you?
- When do you wanna go and come back? (I can give some lifts back to Birmingham on the Sundays; if a car isn't an option I'd book your train as long in advance as possible to save money)
- Would you prefer to camp or stay in the flat? (I can't leave anyone in the flat when I'm not there unfortunately)
- If you're staying in the flat, is there someone you'd be happy sharing a bed with? (There's a double bed and double bed settee available as well as lilos etc, so someone's gonna have to share with me one way or another!)
- If you're camping, do you have a tent? (I can lend or borrow if need be)
- Any special requirements? (Diet, allergies, budget etc)
So please do text me & we'll sort it out!
Lots of love,
Ian
